Shelton Man Faces Child Porn Charges

A Pinewood Lane man was charged Wednesday, March 14, by federal authorities for receipt and distribution of child pornography.

The man, Arthur Galloway, 37, appeared in federal court before Senior U.S. District Judge Ellen Bree Burns in New Haven, who ordered him detained pending a hearing scheduled for March 19.

If convicted on the child pornography charge, Galloway, faces a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of five years, a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years and a fine of up to $250,000, according to federal prosecutors.

David B. Fein, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut, Kimberly K. Mertz, Special Agent in Charge of the New Haven Division of the FBI, and Colonel Danny R. Stebbins of the Connecticut State Police announced Galloway’s arrest in a press release Wednesday afternoon but provided no other details on the charges.

In the press release, Fein stressed that charges are only allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

This case is being investigated by the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit, the Shelton Police Department, the New Haven Police Department, the FBI, and the Connecticut Computer Crimes Task Force, which includes federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Felice M. Duffy.

The Connecticut Computer Crimes Task Force investigates crimes occurring over the Internet, including computer intrusion, Internet fraud, copyright violations, Internet threats and harassment and on-line crimes against children. The Task Force also provides computer forensic review services for participating agencies.
