A 60-year-old Shelton man is due in court Jan. 15 after police accused him of stabbing a man in a bar fight.
According to a statement from Shelton Police Detective Christopher Nugent, Stephen F. Staffy got into an argument with a 22-year-old man at a bar on Center Street around 10:45 p.m. on Dec. 21.
Police said Staffy pulled a knife and put it to the man’s throat.
“The male victim was then stabbed in the neck,” Nugent said. The man survived.
Staffy was taken into custody by an off-duty cop who was there.
He’s charged with first-degree assault, carrying a dangerous weapon, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree threatening, and second-degree breach of peace.
Staffy is being held in jail in Bridgeport pending his next court date in Derby.
