Shelton Police Accuse Man Of Child Porn Possession

SHELTON Police have filed child pornography charges against a Torrington man first accused of sexually assaulting a teenager in January.

In a prepared statement, Detective Richard Bango said 45-year-old Christopher Galvin was charged with illegal possession of child pornography Nov. 30.

Galvin was first arrested in January, and then again in April, for what police called an ongoing sexual relationship with the female juvenile victim over an extended period of time.”

The victim was 13 years old, Bango said.

During that investigation detectives searched Galvin’s cell phone and discovered naked photographs of the victim at various ages,” Bango said.

Galvin has been behind bars since Feb. 7, according to court records, when West Hartford police charged him with enticing a minor by computer.

Galvin was previously arrested in Shelton in January after police said he sexually assaulted the girl after she fell asleep in his car Jan. 16.

He is now being held on bonds totaling more than $200,000.

He is scheduled to appear at Superior Court in Derby Dec. 7 on the new charges.
