A real GoFundMe page ends in .com. This fake one ends in .agency.
DERBY– State Rep. Mary Welander contacted The Valley Indy Monday night to point out there appears to be a fraudulent donation page collecting money off the Sunday crash that took the lives of five people from Derby.
The page looks very, very much like the real “GoFundMe” page being circulated by the family — but the URL (aka the web address) has the word “agency” in it.
Real GoFundMe pages do not end with “.agency” in the URL (instead of ending in “.com.”).
The apparent fake page had 91 donors as of 9:30 p.m. Monday.
