Undercover Cops Make Drug Arrest In Shelton

A Shelton man was arrested Thursday (May 4) after police said they saw him buy cocaine downtown.

In a prepared statement, Detective Richard Bango said police charged 20-year-old Matthew Samatoski with possession of narcotics about 8 p.m.

The arrest stems from a continuing downtown surveillance operation where undercover Detectives are vigilantly patrolling the area for illegal drug activity,” Bango said. Undercover Detectives observed Samatoski make a hand-to-hand drug transaction at the Riverwalk on Canal Street. Samatoski was stopped by Detectives and found to be in possession of cocaine.”

Court information wasn’t available.

Shelton undercover Detectives will continue to monitor the downtown area for illegal activity and Patrol units will continue to make a presence in the area,” Bango said.
