Copper Pipes Stolen From Two Oxford Houses

The Oxford Resident State Trooper’s office is investigating a second case of copper piping stolen from unoccupied houses on Chestnut Tree Hill Road.

One theft occurred between Aug. 31 and Sept. 9. Click here to read about it.

Another theft is thought to have happened sometime between Sept. 4 and Sept. 6. The properties are owned by the same family.

In the other theft, several pieces of copper pipe were taken from the basement.

Copper is often found in the plumbing of homes and has been a target for thieves who sell the scrap metal to dealers. The price of scrap copper is attractive right now, said Sgt. Daniel Semosky, Resident State Trooper supervisor.

The investigation continues.

We’re checking all the scrap places, in Waterbury, Bridgeport, New Haven,” Semosky said.

Anyone with information should contact the Oxford Resident Troopers’s office at 203 – 888-4353.
