Police Investigate Shelton Shooting

A man was shot near the intersection of Hill Street and Division Avenue this evening.

The man’s injuries do not appear to be life threatening. He is being treated at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

The shooting happened between 7:45 p.m. and 8 p.m. at 7:38 p.m., police said.

As of 9 p.m., detectives were still at the scene.

Hill Street was closed between Prospect and Division avenues.

Det.Sgt. Kevin Ahern said the victim walked up to a house on Division Avenue, knocked on the door and told the residents he had been shot.

Upon arrival, officers found a male, I’m not sure of his age yet, who appeared to have one gunshot wound to his rear leg or hip area,” Ahern said.

Police are questioning the victim at the hospital.

We have a possible description of a vehicle that was seen in the area. We’re not sure if it is connected or not,” Ahern said.

Police will release more information when they have more details from the victim. The victim is thought to be a Valley resident, but is not from Shelton.

This story will be updated if and when more information is released by police.
