Barbara L. Williams, age 86, of Derby, entered into eternal rest on March 6, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of 66 years to Erwin “Gus” Williams.
She was born in Bridgeport on December 25, 1937, daughter of the late George and Lucy (Babicz) Roman and was a resident of Derby since 1972. After moving to the Valley, Barbara became a secretary with Yukin Fuel, then Petro Plus, and finally with Waste Management of Milford for many years until her retirement. She was President of the American Legion John Collins Post 24 Auxiliary and also District President. Barbara enjoyed reading, playing games on her Ipad, going to the casino, but most of all, spending time with her family.
Barbara is the beloved mother of Sheila Olson and her husband Rodney, and Mark Williams, mother in law of William Markey, cherished grandmother of Jason Matthews, Jessica Matthews, Kayla Frankel, Nicole Fearon, and Kelsey Williams, loving great grandmother of Zandra Matthews, Robert Torres, Isabella Matthews, Koda Matthews, Ryan Fearon, Tessa Fearon, and Kiley Fearon, cherished great great grandmother to Kay’Lani Torres and Carlo Sánchez-Matthews, and loving sister of James Roman and his wife Elizabeth and Judith Gianettio. She was predeceased by her daughter Cheryl Markey, great grandson Logan Matthews, and three brothers, Robert, George, and Edward Roman.
Friends are invited to greet the family on Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby. On Monday, her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, in Derby at 10:00 a.m.. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Peter Cemetery in Derby.
