Charles W. Santangelo

Charles W. Santangelo, age 86, of Seymour entered into rest on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at his home. 

He was born in Fairfield on July 18, 1935, son of the late John and Carrie (Altorelli) Santangelo. Charles was a former altar server and active parishioner at St. Mary Church. He proudly served with the US Marines. 

Charles worked with his father at Charlton Press before opening a Robo car wash and gas station in Derby. He was an active real estate investor for most of his career. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy, cooking, watching sports, traveling to Italy, going out for Espresso and sharing meaningful Latin phrases. Most of all, he was caring and lived life to the fullest. 

He was the beloved father of Anthony Santangelo, Steven Santangelo, Thomas Santangelo, Cindy Surina, Charlene Santangelo and Patricia Santangelo, and brother of John Santangelo and Elsie Scott. 

Charles was also survived by 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son John Santangelo, a daughter Karen Santangelo and a granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Santangelo. 

Friends may call on Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. 

On Friday, friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 212 Elizabeth St., Derby. His burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may leave condolences at www.adzimafh.com.
