Romuald “Ray” Antoni Brejwo

Romuald Ray” Antoni Brejwo, 74, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on October 22, 2021, at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was a longtime Valley resident having lived in both Ansonia & Derby. He was the beloved husband of Maria Tokarz Brejwo.

Mr. Brejwo was born in Poznań, Poland on September 23, 1947, son of the late Antoni Brejwo and Helena Bujko Brejwo. Ray and his family emigrated from Poland to Ansonia in 1962 by way of Canada. He graduated from Ansonia High School and then enlisted in the United States Navy. 

After serving the majority of his enlistment in Italy, he enrolled and graduated from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY

Not long after, he married the love of his life, Maria. His culinary talents took them to Dallas, San Antonio, New York City, and even co-owning a restaurant in New Jersey. 

Ray & Maria had children and settled back down in Ansonia. He enjoyed working for Sikorsky Aircraft for 40+ years. Ray loved spending time with his wife, children, and especially his grandsons.

He is survived by his wife Maria and two sons, Antoni Tony” Brejwo and his fiancée, Jennifer Connan, of Beacon Falls, and; Conrad Brejwo, and his wife, Amy, of Ansonia, as well as his two grandsons, Benjamin and Daniel. He is also survived by his brother, Kazimierz Casey” Brejwo (JoAnn), brother in law Douglas Day, and several nieces & nephews. He is pre-deceased by his sister, Krystyna Day.

The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who have cared for Ray through the years including but not limited to Dr. Casablanca, Dr. Asch, Dr. Gowda, and most recently the entire ICU staff at Yale New Haven Hospital.

At Ray’s request, there will be no wake or funeral services. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
