Frances M. Prouty, age 85, of Seymour, entered into rest on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. She was the devoted wife of the late Walter H. Prouty.
Frances was born in the Bronx, NY on August 25, 1938, daughter of the late John C. and Gertrude (Kiernan) Hartmayer, and lived in Seymour for over 20 years.
She devoted her time to her family and home, and delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is the beloved mother of Deborah Rapuano and her husband Louis, Denise Rinko and her husband Ernest, the late Richard Och, mother-in-law of Irene Och and her step-son Walter L. Prouty. She leaves twelve cherished grandchildren, Shawn Rinko (Morgan), Michele Mitchell (Robert), Jennifer Tirella (Matthew), Sarah Hilmar (Christian), Emily Dowd (Matthew), Patrick Rapuano (Sarah), Matthew Och (Samantha), Andrew Och (Gina), Christopher Och (Taylor), Jonathan Och, Jason Prouty, and Scott Prouty (Jennifer), and twenty-six beloved great-grandchildren. Frances was predeceased by her brother, John E. Hartmayer.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Her funeral service will begin in the parlor at 3:00 PM.
