Frank A. Tomis

Frank A. Tomis, age 87 of Oxford, died peacefully on Sunday, March 21, 2021, at the CT Hospice, Branford. 

Born in Bridgeport on November 16, 1933, he was the son of the late Bartholomew and Veronica Stack Tomis. 

Mr. Tomis was a graduate of Fairfield Prep High School, class of 1951 and was the owner and operator of the former Southside Autobody and Frank Tomis Autos of Main St., Bridgeport, until the time of his retirement in 2000. 

He was a Past Commodore and life member of the Pequonnock Yacht Club of Bridgeport and enjoyed entertaining friends and family at his home on Lake Housatonic. Mr. Tomis spent many winters playing golf with his buddies at the Little Club of Tequesta, FL; he was especially proud of his 5 hole-in-ones! 

Mr. Tomis was a member of the Crestview Ridge Senior Housing Assoc. and the Oxford Senior Center. He was always available to help anyone at any time. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Ann Steck and Mary Sirotnik; brothers, Steve, William, Albert and Rev. John Tomis; uncles, Steve Stack and Valiant Tomis; a niece, Jo-Ann Tomis; his loving companion of 50 years, Judy Corchard; and his faithful canine friend, Pal. Funeral Services will take place from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at 9:30 AM

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary Campus of Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Parish, 212 Elizabeth St., Derby at 10:00 AM

Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Stratford. Family and friends may call at the Funeral Home from 8:30 to 9:30 AM, prior to Mass. Memorial contribution may be made to the Oxford Animal Shelter, 486 Oxford Rd., Oxford, CT 06478. Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
