John P. Reynolds

John P. Reynolds, a 79 year old Ansonia resident and husband to Patricia Rapp Reynolds, entered into eternal rest Feb. 29. 

He was born Aug. 12, 1944 in London, England son of the late Thomas and Mary Bohan Reynolds. He graduated from St. James School in Middlesex, England and St. Peter’s College in Freshfield, Lancashire before becoming a banker. He married Patricia in St. James Church in Chicago on Jan. 5, 1974. John was owner and proprietor of Rapp’s Paradise Inn in Ansonia. He became a Justic-of –the –Peace in 2001. He would marry couples in The garden when their JP did not show. John served as Treasurer of the Ronald McDonald House in New Haven. 

Because of the by-laws of The Ronald McDonald House requiring citizenship, John became a U.S. citizen on Sept. 9, 1982. John was a member of The George Washington Masonic Temple #82. John was an Emeritus Board Member of The Shriner’s Hospital in Springfield, MA. He was also a member of The Pyramid Temple in Milford, a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, and was a Past Director of Impresario. He served as Corporator for The Valley Mental Health, The Hewitt Memorial Hospital as well as The Ansonia Savings Bank. 

He was a parishioner of The Church of the Assumption in Ansonia, and was a member of The Ansonia Rotary Club and The Highland Golf Club. In addition to his wife, he leaves his son Thomas F. Reynolds of Las Vegas, NV, his brother-in-law John Underwood of England and sister-in-law Allison Rapp of CA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at The St. Martin De Porres Church, 136 Dixwell Ave. New Haven, CT

Friends may call at church from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. before The Mass begins. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Rosa Mystica Fraternity of the Franciscan Order. The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, has been privileged with arrangements.
