Lois Marie Marchitto

Our dear mother, Lois Marie Marchitto, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 15, 2023, at the age of 86.

She was at her home in Bethany with her loving family by her side. She was a wonderful mother who was always there and built her life around her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

She was born in Bridgeport, CT on February 24, 1938, the daughter of the late George and Mildred Smith (Milo).

So many friends knew her as a legendary waitress who worked at the Valley Diner in Derby, CT for over 25 years. She loved watching Wheel of Fortune, crocheting and doing word search puzzles. She loved dancing to her favorite bands ABBA & Fleetwood Mac whenever she heard their songs.

Lois was the beloved mother of Janet Lintgeris, the late Robert Orechovesky, Lisa Roberts, Diana Rigoli, Darlene Vitale and Gail Reese. She was also the loving mother-in-law to Tony Rigoli, Carl Vitale, Jon Geloso and the late Nicholas Lintgeris.

She was always so proud to brag about her wonderful grandchildren, William Lintgeris, Alexis Porto, Nicole Arruda, Kristina Lintgeris, Christopher Morton, Michael Morton, Alicia Wilhelm, William Freiheit, the late Vincent Rigoli, Erika Freiheit, Bianca Rigoli, Alayna Rodriguez, Antonio Rigoli, Olivia Vitale, Jacob Vitale and Ceejay Cuevas.

Of course, we can’t forget the love she had for her 22 beautiful great grandchildren and her one adorable great-great grandson. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

Lois was predeceased by her two brothers Clifford and George Smith, as well as her four sisters, Florence Boyd, Janet Santucci, Robena Schwartz and Sharon Larson.

Her funeral service will be held as a private ceremony with her loving family.

The Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby has been entrusted with her arrangements.
