Peter E. Gagne

Peter E. Gagne, age 73, of Ansonia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the Mozaic Jewish Home in Bridgeport with his loving family at his side. He is the beloved husband of Janet (Kucia) Gagne for 25 years. Peter was born in Cheshire on November 23, 1950, son of the late Wilfred and Dorothy (Peete) Gagne.

Pete worked for Southern New England Telephone Company for 25 years before starting his own business, Pete’s Custom Carpentry. Pete worked alongside his nephew, Jeremy and neighbor, Cameron building decks, additions and remodeling homes for 10 years. In 2006, he took his carpentry knowledge and skills and opened A&C Home Inspection until his retirement in 2001. 

Pete served in the Airforce National Guard and was an active member of the Derby Elks for 25 years, where he served as Exalted Ruler. He enjoyed fishing and boating and was a skilled woodworker. Pete was also an avid Yankees and Giants fan.

He is the beloved father of Paul Gagne and his wife Michelle, and step-father of Allison Shortell (Jim Cavallaro), Carrie Younkin, Tracy Latak (Richard Talbot) and Michael Latak (Cecelia Tiffany). He leaves two cherished grandchildren, Julia and William Gagne. Pete is also survived by three brothers, George (Sherry), Paul (Donna), and Mark (Kathy), two sisters, Anne Ginnow (Wayne) and Louise Chiaraglia (Vinny) and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, David Gagne.

Pete’s family would like to express their eternal gratitude for the love and care provided by Mozaic Senior Life, especially the staff in the Meshberg and Kassen Houses as well as Hospice.

Friends are invited to greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 4 – 7pm.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Pete’s name to Mozaic Senior Life or the Derby Elks.
