Oxford Resident Dies In Crash

An Oxford resident died in a crash late Friday, after a car he was a passenger in went airborne and struck a building.

Police also said the crash occurred after Seymour police had tried to stop the vehicle.

Brandon Giordano, of Christian Street, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, according to a press release at the Resident Trooper’s Office.

Giordano’s age was not listed.

The driver of the car, Eric Ramirez, 19, sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Waterbury Hospital.

Another passenger, Dion Major, of Hogsback Road, whose date of birth was not listed, was hospitalized for minor injuries, according to police.

Police said Seymour police were attempting to stop Ramirez’s car, a 2000 Ford Mustang, as he drove north on Route 67 in Oxford about 11:47 p.m. Friday.

Ramirez then turned right onto Old State Road but eventually lost control of the car, which went off the road to the right. The car hit an embankment, went airborne, hit a commercial building at 43 Old State Road, and came to a rest on its roof next to the structure.

Police did not say whether the building sustained major damage.

Members of the state police’s accident reconstruction squad are investigating the crash, according to the press release.
