Derby Aldermen Vote To Give Domurad Back Pay

The Derby Board of Aldermen voted Thursday to pay Henry Domurad money owed to him from three years ago.

A precise dollar amount was not discussed during the Board of Aldermen meeting Thursday. The Derby mayor’s office could not provide the dollar amount Friday.

This story will be updated when the dollar amount is relayed.

A previous Valley Indy story reported the number to be in the neighborhood of $8,000.

)NOTE: On June 30, the Derby Mayor’s Office said the dollar amount is $9,261.82.)
The money covers three personal days, eight vacation days and about 18 sick days owed to Domurad after he stopped working for the city in April 2012.

Derby Government Violated Charter With 2008 Domurad Appointment

They called him the finance director when they gave him the job. They referred to him as the finance director at countless public meetings. Even that letter of resignation, which he claimed was phony, contained the phrase director of finance.”

So Henry Domurad Jr. was Derby’s finance director, right?

Wrong, according to Derby City Hall.

Judge Doesn’t Buy Domurad’s Story

Mayor Anthony Staffieri literally raised his arms in victory Tuesday after a judge refused to restore Henry Domurad, Jr. as Derby’s finance director.

Judge Arthur Hiller ruled that a letter of resignation distributed by the mayor’s office in April was, in fact, signed by Domurad — and that Domurad knows it.

That clouds” anything else Domurad claimed during Tuesday’s hearing, Hiller said.

A hearing Tuesday in the lawsuit of former Derby finance director Henry Domurad Jr. offered the public its first glimpse into the behind-the-scenes drama that erupted in controversy in April when Domurad ceased working for the city.

Insurance Company Lawyer Wants Off Domurad-Staffieri Case

A lawyer defending Mayor Anthony Staffieri in a civil lawsuit brought by Derby’s former finance director is withdrawing from the case.

David Monastersky, a lawyer with Howd and Ludorf in Hartford, submitted an application June 12 notifying the court of his firm’s intent to leave the case, according to a document on file in Superior Court in Milford.

Derby Aldermen Reject Domurad Settlement, Again

Twelve hours before a scheduled court hearing in the lawsuit of former finance director Henry Domurad, Jr. against Mayor Anthony Staffieri, Derby Aldermen voted Monday night to a reject a proposed settlement in the case.

The tally was 6 – 3, with Aldermen Scott Boulton, Barbara DeGennaro, and Stephen Iacuone voting in favor of accepting the settlement, which would have seen Domurad receive $53,000.

Derby Rejects Settlement, Domurad-Staffieri Returns To Court

A $53,000 deal to end a lawsuit between former finance director Henry Domurad, Jr. and Mayor Anthony Staffieri fell apart Thursday after the Board of Aldermen voted to reject the settlement.

The vote was bipartisan, 8 – 1, with only Democratic Alderman Barbara DeGennaro voting in favor of the settlement.
