Derby PD Warn Of Scam

Derby police released the following information about a scam making the rounds in the Valley:
Residents should be aware of a “distraction” scam that is occurring in area towns.
The scam involves elderly people being lured out of their homes under the guise of the suspect’s offering free landscaping / tree-trimming.
Once out of the home, a second suspect burglarizes the residence.
All residents should be cautious of anyone asking you to exit your home to discuss offered services.
Please report any suspicious activity to the police department at 203-735-7811.
