  1. Today is a good day for Oxford. Let’s move the town forward by voting row A. Haversat and Yish will improve our schools, keep our taxes low and improve public safety.

  2. Just a reminder. The Oxford Historical Society will hold a food drive for the Seymour-Oxford food drive at the Society booth outside of the polls at Quaker Farms School. We will be accepting donations of non-perishable food (or cash) for the local food bank.

Of course, we’ll have our usual display table with local history merchandise available as well. We’ll be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hope to see as many folks there as possible. Be an “Election Day Superstar” by voting and supporting the food bank.

  3. As an email said this weekend, how will Haversat make it better for schools when it has always been the Republicans who have taken more and more money away from the BOE budget? Look at the Republicans on the BOF, under Palmer, they removed more money from the BOE budget then any other administration because they do not like teacher unions. This ultimately leads to the BOE having to cut positions and affects class sizes.

Under Drayton-Rogers, the BOE budgets have barely been reduced because they Republicans knew they could no longer continue with their massive cuts and they were finally dealing with an administration that did not want to cripple the school system with unnecessary actions.

  4. As to the topic of being quiet in Derby politics, I do have to say that as an independent voter I was rather disappointed to see Mayor Staffieri not debate Mr. Dan Foley. It would have been a good chance to let the citizens ask questions to both sides. From what I hear, Mr. Staffieri isn’t the best at speeches, well we just want some honesty and answers as citizens not a perfect speech. Good Luck to the honest ones out there, improve our city and support education!
