ANSONIA — Police arrested a 50-year-old man on drug and gun charges in connection to an incident on Prospect Street earlier this month.
Eric Warren is charged with two counts of criminal possession of a firearm, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, and disorderly conduct.
Police said they were sent to Warren’s residence at 3 a.m. on March 8 after receiving a report of a person with an “altered mental status.”
“The male was reported to be acting irrationally, and armed with a handgun. The male refused to exit the home when contacted by the police,” police said.
Police, aided by one of Warren’s relatives, were able to coax him out of the residence. He was taken to a hospital for mental health treatment.
The police investigation continued, with police obtaining a search warrant for Warren’s residence. Police said they seized two handguns, about three ounces of crack, along with drug packaging material.
Police then obtained an arrest warrant for Warren, who turned himself in on March 14.
He is due back in court on April 14.
