DERBY — The Derby Veterans Memorial Inc. will hold its annual election of officers to the Board of Governors on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 6:30 pm at the hall.
All Derby veterans or any veteran who is a member of a Derby veteran post is eligible to serve on the board. The Mayor is the President of the board, while all other positions must be elected by the veterans in attendance at the meeting. There are also two positions on the board for civilians from the City of Derby.
The building is a city owned building, however the deed states that it will be run by the veterans. The city gives some funds annually to maintain the building and grounds, however additional funds are needed for this purpose. This is done through rentals of the hall for parties or meetings and from donations.
The hall has recently been repainted and new flooring is being looked into. Recently new wheels were made for the cannon by the Amish.
