SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from Feb. 24, 2025 through March 2, 2025.

It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.

Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we try to track the case as it progresses through the courts.

Seymour police received 155 calls for service and made five arrests between Feb. 24, 2025 and March 2, 2025.

FEB. 24, 2025

9:24 a.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from an individual who said he lost his wallet, and his pistol permit was inside the wallet. Police advised the individual to contact state police.

3:18 p.m. A report of a disabled vehicle in front of the police station on Franklin Street was received. The vehicle was reportedly flooded, and police were able to start the vehicle and move it off the road.

7:04 p.m. A South Main Street resident reported to police that his Apple air pods were delivered by Amazon but were then stolen.

8:30 p.m. Police charged a 41-year-old Waterbury man with disorderly conduct.

FEB. 25, 2025

2:17 a.m. Police conducted a routine building check at Seymour Middle School on Mountain Road.

3:47 p.m. A walk-in report was received about someone’s mail being found at French Park.

5:46 p.m. Police received a call from a Stanley Drive resident who said she believes someone is intentionally sending packages to her home and has video footage of the individual on her Ring doorbell. Police said the individual returned to retrieve his packages and said it was a misunderstanding.

7:26 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash on New Haven Road (Route 67) in the area near Webster Bank.

FEB. 26, 2025

6:44 a.m. A Johnson Avenue resident told police a tan sedan was parked in her driveway, and she did not know who it belonged to. Police learned a neighbor parked his car in her driveway until the garbage truck was able to get by.

7:36 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a two-car motor vehicle crash on Bank Street. No injuries were reported.

11:07 a.m. A Maple Street resident reported that she found a license plate in her front yard. Police located the owner and returned the plate.

7:44 p.m. A report of a motor vehicle driving erratically in the area of Maple and Pearl Streets was received by police. Upon arrival, police could not locate the vehicle.

7:56 p.m. Police charged a 69-year-old Beacon Falls woman with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to drive in the proper lane.

FEB. 27, 2025

2:25 a.m. A 911 caller reported an argument with a family member, who would not let her go to sleep. The argument stemmed from a pet rat being secretly kept in the home. Police spoke with both parties and said there were no further issues.

3:40 p.m. Police responded to a report of a medical emergency near the train station on Main Street. The individual told police he had a seizure and requested an ambulance.

4:29 p.m. A caller notified police about a sign above the train station on Main Street that appeared to be hanging by a thread. Police said the sign on the side of the building was being held up by one chain loop. Police said the sign was chipped from swinging in the wind and hitting the gutter of the building and had been like that for some time. Police notified the public works department and requested that a second chain loop be added to secure the sign.

6:03 p.m. Police charged a 52-year-old Norwalk man with fourth-degree larceny and second-degree forgery.

FEB. 28, 2025

8:41 a.m. Police responded to a report of possible credit fraud between two customers at Seymour Garden Restaurant on New Haven Road.

11:35 a.m. A report of downed phone or cable wires in the area of Davis Road and Great Hill Road impeding traffic was reported to police.

1:31 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash on Bungay Road.

4:06 p.m. A Poplar Drive resident reported to police that he learned a car he bought was stolen. The barcode on the paperwork did not match the title on the car. Upon checking the VIN, police determined the vehicle was from New York and was not stolen, and that there was an error with the title or with the DMV.

MARCH 1, 2025

2:29 a.m. Police charged a 26-year-old Seymour man with illegally operating motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to drive in the proper lane.

8:39 a.m. A caller reported he was the victim of possible identity theft.

1:45 p.m. Police charged a 44-year-old Naugatuck man with operating an unregistered motor vehicle and illegally operating a motor vehicle under suspension.

3 p.m. Police received a complaint from a resident who said a Verizon account was fraudulently opened in his name.

6:46 p.m. A 911 hang-up call was received by police, who determined the call was accidental after learning a child was playing with the phone.

MARCH 2, 2025

6:40 a.m. A caller reported to police that a portion of Botsford Road was covered in ice. Police contacted the public works department and requested they salt/sand the road.

1:26 p.m. Police responded to a report of a medical emergency on Capricorn Drive.

3 p.m. A South Main Street resident reported to police that he believed his car was vandalized at Lowes in Derby.

4:59 p.m. Police received a report about two dirt bikes that were traveling the wrong way in the area of Bank and Beecher streets.

7:22 p.m. A call for assistance came from Shady Knoll health care facility on Skokorat Street about a patient going after employees with a fork and a knife. The patient was transported to Griffin Hospital.
