SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from March 17, 2025 through March 23, 2025.

It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.

Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we track the case.

Seymour police received 149 calls for service and made eight arrests between March 17, 2025 and March 23, 2025.

MARCH 17, 2025

9:03 a.m. A Bungay Road resident told police he hit a deer when he pulled out of the entrance/exit of Balance Rock apartments.

11:30 p.m. Police received a 911 call from Seymour High School, but a patrol officer sent to the school confirmed it was a misdial.

5:01 p.m. Police charged a 38-year-old Oxford woman with illegally operating a motor vehicle under suspension, illegally operating motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and interfering/resisting a police officer.

7:44 p.m. Ansonia police requested assistance about reports of dirt bikes and quads that tore up part of Colony Park that were heading into Seymour. Police were unable to locate the dirt bikes.

MARCH 18, 2025

3:19 a.m. Suspicious activity at French Memorial Park was reported to police. Police found an individual taking a nap in his car and asked him to leave the park with no further issues.

5:15 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a minor motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Clinton and Rimmon roads. No injuries were reported.

5:39 p.m. Police were called to Walgreens on Bank Street about a complaint of three unruly juveniles in the store.

7:56 p.m. A caller reported witnessing someone shoplifting at Stop & Shop on Franklin Street. Police said Stop & Shop did not want to pursue criminal charges.

MARCH 19, 2025

7:59 a.m. Police conducted a building safety check at Seymour Middle School on Mountain Road.

10:35 a.m. A Jupiter Drive resident reported that two females were attempting to break into his house. When he confronted the two females on his Ring doorbell camera, the females left. Police said they were Jehovah’s Witnesses and there were no further issues.

12:30 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a minor motor vehicle accident at Derby Avenue/Bungay Road. No injuries were reported.

11:36 p.m. A caller reported suspicious activity at Chatfield Park on Chatfield Street. The individual told police he was hanging out with his girlfriend. Police advised the parties not to park there after hours, and the couple left without any issues.

MARCH 20, 2025

12:23 a.m. A Maiden Lane resident reported that loud music was coming from a house or vehicle in the area. Police said the area was quiet upon their arrival.

4:08 p.m. Police charged a 32-year-old Oxford woman with running a red light.

4:31 p.m. A Skokorat Street resident told police he left his cell phone in an Uber and requested help in getting it back.

7:09 p.m. A caller reported a raccoon appeared to be sick or injured and was walking around on its hind legs and acting strange on Terrace Road. The raccoon went back into the woods upon police arrival.

MARCH 21, 2025

7:43 a.m. A Balance Rock resident reported to police that his work van was struck by another vehicle sometime during the night.

9:04 a.m. Police charged a 28-year-old Waterbury man with operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without a license and failure to insure a private motor vehicle.

9:49 a.m. A report of a downed tree on Johnson Avenue was received by police.

5:17 p.m. A Bungay School parent complained to police that a student pulled her daughter’s hair at school.

9:06 p.m. A Legion Road resident told police she heard banging on her front door, but did not see anyone. Police located juveniles in the area and advised them “not to play ding dong” anymore.

9:21 p.m. Police charged a 24-year-old Waterbury woman with illegally operating a motor vehicle without minimum insurance.

MARCH 22, 2025

10:37 a.m. A Roosevelt Drive resident told police a vehicle hit his trash cans, destroyed them and took off. The caller also told police the vehicle hit a mailbox next door. Police canvassed cameras in the area but turned up negative results.

1:35 p.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from a Pearl Street resident who said his license plate was stolen off his vehicle sometime between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

7:33 p.m. A Lane Street resident called police and said she was being held hostage by her boyfriend. Police said the woman was alone and highly intoxicated. Police said the woman refused to open the door and told police she lied about being held hostage.

9:03 p.m. Police received a complaint about a traffic light that was out at the intersection of New Haven Road (Route 67) and North Street.

MARCH 23, 2025

2:45 a.m. Police charged a 27-year-old Naugatuck man with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs.

10:07 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a minor motor vehicle accident on Wakely Street. No injuries were reported.

3:53 p.m. Police received a 911 hang-up call. Upon callback, police confirmed a child was playing with the phone and accidentally called 911.

7:50 p.m. Police charged a 29-year-old Derby woman with illegally operating a motor vehicle under suspension and second-degree failure to appear.
