
SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from July 21, 2025 through July 27, 2025.
It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.
Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we track the case.
Seymour police received 248 calls for service and made five arrests between July 21, 2025 and July 27, 2025.
JULY 21, 2025
1:10 a.m. Police charged a 31-year-old Naugatuck man with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, improper rear/marker lamps and improper number of headlamps.
1:30 a.m. Police charged a 32-year-old Seymour woman with evading responsibility and injury/property damage.
7:41 a.m. An employee from Shady Knoll health care facility on Skokorat Street reported a vehicle had been stolen from the premises.
9:56 a.m. Police received a walk-in complaint about fraud from a resident who said he sent a check to a business, and the check had been white-washed.
12:11 p.m. Police set up radar enforcement for about 45 minutes on Maple Street/Warren Drive. Two motor vehicle stops were made.
1:51 p.m. Police set up radar enforcement for about 25 minutes on Main Street/Colony Road and made no motor vehicle stops.
3:22 p.m. Police responded to an alarm going off at Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home on West Church Street. An officer said there were no signs of a break-in and the building was secure.
4:14 p.m. A Tomlinson Road resident reported a black bear was on his back porch. Police advised the resident to notify DEEP. The bear was gone upon police arrival.
11:31 p.m. Police responded to a complaint about people making noise and disturbing the peace in the Klarides Village plaza on Bank Street. The people were gone upon police arrival.
JULY 22, 2025
2:39 a.m. Police conducted a routine safety check at Gary Park.
8:58 a.m. A caller reported a sickly raccoon was near the intersection of Bank Street and Old Drive. An officer reported the raccoon was run over by a passing vehicle and had expired.
11:47 a.m. Police received a complaint about a vehicle that was smoking in a plaza on West Street. Police said the vehicle was gone upon their arrival, and there was no disabled vehicle or fire hazard.
11:48 a.m. A Botsford Road resident reported a case of check fraud to police.
5:02 p.m. A Rennay Road resident told police there was an unwanted solicitor at this door representing Go Net Speed, who told the resident he did not have a permit. Police issued the solicitor an infraction for not having a permit.
JULY 23, 2025
7:16 a.m. A caller reported a tractor trailer truck was attempting to back up near Maple and Bank streets after not being able to navigate the trestle. Police said the truck was gone upon their arrival.
7:19 a.m. A Mountain Road resident told police two of his vehicles were rummaged through and a bag containing his laptop and air pods were stolen, along with some loose change.
12:06 p.m. A caller told police the traffic light in front of the Henny Penny gas station on New Haven Road (Route 67) was stuck on red. An officer observed the traffic light and watched it cycle 4-5 times without any issues.
1:12 p.m. A Derby Avenue resident lodged a complaint that her neighbors were away, and their adult children were playing loud music at all times of the day and night. An officer spoke with the neighbors who said they would turn the music down. The resident was also informed by officer that town’s noise ordinance doesn’t go into effect until 9 p.m.
4:37 p.m. Police responded to a medical emergency on Squantuck Road.
JULY 24, 2025
7:21 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Pearl and Main streets.
12:12 p.m. A Lane Street resident told police a green Chevrolet Cobalt with no plates had been parked in front of his house for a while. Police said the car was towed.
3:16 p.m. Police were called about disabled truck on Maple Street.
5:31 p.m. A resident told police she found a case full of tools on First Street.
6:04 p.m. Police charged a 55-year-old New Haven man with third-degree larceny and second-degree forgery.
7:17 p.m. Police responded to a medical emergency on French Street.
9:02 p.m. An Argyle Circle resident told police three younger males were walking in her driveway. Police said the males were gone upon their arrival.
JULY 25, 2025
1:37 a.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from a resident who said someone threw something at his vehicle near South Main and Maple streets, but he didn’t think there was any damage. Police said they could not locate any individuals in the area throwing objects.
5:41 a.m. An officer removed a large boulder in the middle of Bungay Road.
8:32 a.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver in the area of Maple Street and Warren Drive.
8:39 a.m. A Colony Road resident told police her car was ransacked, and a make-up bag was stolen.
3:56 p.m. A caller told police a grey Toyota Corolla was weaving in an out down Maple Street. Police said the car was gone upon their arrival.
5:46 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident near Rocky Glen/Emma Street.
8:58 p.m. Police responded to a medical emergency at a residence on Derby Avenue.
9:48 p.m. Police received a complaint about a man in a green truck who was passed out behind the wheel of his truck near Rolling Hills Drive and Skokorat Street.
10 p.m. Police charged a 39-year-old Beacon Falls man with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs.
JULY 26, 2025
9:08 a.m. An Emma Street resident told police a suspicious vehicle slowed down in front of his house and took a picture, then slowed down a few houses away and took another picture. An officer checked the area, but the car was gone upon their arrival.
11:09 a.m. Police received a 911 call, and the caller stated a man and a woman were screaming “at the top of their lungs” at a Balance Rock Road residence. Police said there was a verbal dispute, and the woman was leaving for the day to go to her mother’s house.
6:41 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Route 8.
6:41 p.m. Police charged a 27-year-old Danbury man with failure to display plates, illegally operating a motor vehicle under suspension, speeding, criminal impersonation and interfering/resisting arrest.
8:18 p.m. A North Street resident reported having a verbal dispute with a male who would not leave the residence.
JULY 27, 2025
10:26 a.m. Police were called about an alarm going off at a side hall door at Seymour Middle School on Mountain Road. An officer checked the building and said there were no issues.
3:58 p.m. Police set up radar enforcement for about 25 minutes on Bungay Road. One motor vehicle stop was made.
4:03 p.m. A caller reported there were three dogs in a blue Dodge Durango in the Stop & Shop parking lot, with the windows barely cracked open. Police said the dogs did not appear to be in distress, but made contact with the owner, and advised them about animal cruelty statues and to refrain from leaving the dogs in the car in the future.
4:34 p.m. Police set up radar enforcement for about 20 minutes on Holbrook Road and made one motor vehicle stop and issued an infraction.
8 p.m. Police set up radar enforcement for about 20 minutes on Great Hill Road and made one motor vehicle stop.
