DERBY — Derby High School Principal Jennifer Olson sent word Tuesday (Aug. 12) of a fraudulent email aimed at students.
“We want to make you aware of a fraudulent email that has been sent to students with the subject line “DPS SUMMER ONLINE INTERNSHIP,” Olson wrote in a message to the school community.
The email is being sent to Derby High School students as if it is from the school — but it’s not.
“This email is not from Derby Public Schools. Please do not click on any links or respond to this message,” she wrote.
The principal said that any students who clicked links within the sketchy email should contact the school so that the district’s IT department can take steps to secure potentially compromised accounts.
A Google search shows that several universities have published articles warning of scam internship emails aimed at students.

The scammers want to steal identities for profit, or get unsuspecting students to give them money.
