SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from Aug. 26, 2025 through Sept. 1, 2025.

It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.

Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we track the case.

AUG. 26, 2025

12:25 a.m. — Police conducted speed enforcement using radar on Rimmon Road. Three motorists were issued warnings.
7:20 a.m. — A caller reported a minor traffic accident near the Route 8 ramp near Henny Penny. State police were notified since the crash was on the highway ramp.
10:11 a.m. — A caller from Manners Avenue reported a homeless person sleeping in a vehicle. The vehicle was gone upon the patrol’s arrival.
11:13 a.m. — Police received a complaint regarding dust being generated as crews were working in Seybridge Plaza.
11:20 a.m. — A Gary Park Drive resident complained about continuous ‘ring and run’ incidents.
3:47 p.m. — Police assisted a medical call during which an 11-year-old was taken to the hospital after having an allergic reaction or asthma attack.
4:39 p.m. — A 33-year-old Seymour man was charged with driving under the influence on Rimmon Road.
6:35 p.m. — Police assisted Ansonia police with the report of an armed robbery on North Main Street.

Aug. 27. 2025

12:21 a.m. — Police set up a radar detail to monitor speeds on Roosevelt Drive. Four motorists were issued warnings.
1:38 a.m. — Police were sent to Main Street for a burglar alarm. It appeared to be a false alarm.
12:20 p.m. — A minor fender bender was reported in the Stop & Shop parking lot on Franklin Street.
4:12 p.m. — A motor vehicle crash was reported on Bank Street.
6:54 p.m. — A motor vehicle crash was reported on Washington Avenue.

Aug. 28, 2025

7:40 a.m. — Police received two 911 calls about a motor vehicle crash near the intersection of Derby Avenue and Bungay Road.
12:03 p.m. — Police received a report of a person slumped over her steering wheel on Roosevelt Drive. The woman said she was tired and needed to rest. She declined medical attention.
5:56 p.m. — A caller from Poplar Drive reported hearing weird noises from the attic. Patrol responded and found no issues in the attic.
8:18 p.m. — An Uber driver reported that a woman was unconscious in his back seat. Police responded. The woman declined medical attention.
9:35 p.m. — A caller reported suspicious activity in French Park on Spruce Street. Police responded, and advised the people of the park’s hours.

Aug. 29, 2025

12:41 a.m. — A caller contacted police to report that he sneezed while driving and hit a parked car on Briarwood Drive.
4:09 p.m. — A motor vehicle crash was reported in the area of Gilyard and North Main streets.
5:52 p.m. — A fender bender was reported on Balance Rock Road.

Aug. 30, 2025

12:16 p.m. — Caller reported a SUV parked on the sidewalk near Grand Street and Washington Avenue was blocking sight lines for cars. Owner was advised not to park here.
1:44 p.m. — A multi-vehicle accident was reported on Route 8 north. State police were notified.
3:42 p.m. — Police received a report about a worker falling from a roof on Heritage Drive. EMS and paramedics were sent to the scene.
5:16 p.m. — A motorist reported she almost hit a child riding a bike on West Street.
6:43 p.m. — A Sagamore Drive resident reported someone playing music too loudly.
9:17 p.m. — A caller reported four men speeding and hanging out of a white Hyundai Elantra on Manners Drive.

Aug. 31, 2025

11:05 a.m. — A caller on Second Avenue reported that someone hit her parked car and drove off.
1:50 p.m. — Police received several calls about a vehicle flipped over on Derby Avenue from Route 8.
9:09 p.m. — A caller reported a red Mustang running a stop sign and almost crashing at a high rate of speed on Rimmon Road.
9:28 p.m. — A caller reported the sound of gunfire in the area of Sagamore Drive. A police officer responded and heard fireworks.

Sept. 1, 2025

3:59 a.m. — A French Street resident reported that her daughter was missing and that her cell phone battery had died. The woman called back and said her daughter arrived home.
12:22 p.m. — A caller told police two males on bicycles were throwing rocks at the old board of education building on Bank Street. Police located two juveniles and talked to their parents. No damage was observed on the building.
