Elaine Bariluk-Peck embarked on her next journey, surrounded by loved ones on August 30, 2025 at age 77 after losing a brief battle with cancer.
She was the loving wife of David Peck, mother of Charles (Adina) Corrente and Nicole (Daniel III) Skuret, grandmother to Brittany, Danny, Dimitri, Janina, and Connor, great-grandmother to Riley and Jameson, sister of Christine (Thomas) Hill, Nick (Mary) Bariluk, and Nancy (William) Smith.
Elaine was born on October 3, 1947 to Nicholas and Jane Bariluk of Seymour, where she grew up. She graduated from Seymour High School and attended the University of Connecticut. After her father’s passing in 1995, she took over the family’s dry cleaning business, Ed’s Cleaners on Bank Street in Seymour, until its closure in 2016.
During that time, customers would comment how much they loved coming there because she always knew their names and made it a personal experience.
In 2018, she and her husband David relocated to North Carolina, realizing her dream to live by the beach. But the distance from her family was too great, thus they returned, settling in Thomaston, CT.
Elaine had a wonderful sense of humor which we all shared. She loved being on the beach and had a tremendous gift for gardening. She enjoyed animals, music, knitting, and making jewelry as well. Elaine was a doer, a helper, and was always there for those she cared about. Though the kids called her “Tiny,” her heart was the biggest we knew and we will all miss her spirit the rest of our days.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Chepulis Funeral Home from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 47 Washington Ave., Seymour, CT 06483
