ANSONIA – Police arrested a Florida man that they said blackmailed an Ansonia minor with nude images and videos.
Jemar Graves, 19, of Jacksonville, Florida, was extradited to Ansonia Sept. 3. Ansonia police charged him with first-degree larceny by extortion, electronic stalking, disseminating intimate images to more than one person, promoting a minor to engage in an obscene performance, enticing a minor by computer, misrepresenting his age to entice a minor, and risk of injury to a child.
According to Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch, detectives began investigating Graves in November 2024. Lynch said Graves met a 15-year-old girl through a social media app, while pretending to be 15 himself.
Graves allegedly convinced the victim, who lives in Ansonia, to send him nude images and videos of herself. He threatened to send the images and videos to her friends unless she paid him money, police said.
Lynch said that Ansonia detectives flew to Florida and interviewed Graves during the course of the investigation. Florida police arrested Graves Aug. 20 before extraditing him to Ansonia.
Graves’ bond was set at $150,000. His next court date is Sept. 25, according to the state judicial website.
