SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from Sept. 15, 2025 through Sept. 21, 2025.

It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.

Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we track the case.

Seymour police received 295 calls for service and made five arrests between Sept. 15, 2025 and Sept. 21, 2025.

SEPT. 15, 2025

7:41 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a two-car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Skokorat Street and Bunting Road. No injuries were reported.

1:26 p.m. A caller reported there were wires down in the area of Casagrande Field off North Street. An officer said they were cable wires from a pole and notified Frontier to fix.

2:08 p.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from a man who said while recycling his glass and plastic bottles at Stop & Shop, someone took his glass bottles. The man told police he tried to locate the bottles in the store parking lot and noticed a man with his box of glass bottles, but the man would not admit to taking them.

5:30 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Grand Street.

6:30 p.m. A Sanford Street resident complained to police about someone playing drums in the neighborhood and said it was ​“louder” than the day before. An officer spoke with the drummer, who was playing outside, and said the noise was ​“not unreasonable,” but the drummer packed up for the night and went inside. 

SEPT. 16, 2025

12:20 a.m. Police issued a written warning to a driver on Bungay Road.

9:26 a.m. A Highland Avenue resident told police two men who were at his house working on his vehicle refused to leave the property. An officer said the men agreed to leave prior to police arrival.

2:34 p.m. Police were called to Stop & Shop on Franklin Street for a report of a woman who fell in the parking lot.

3:57 p.m. A caller told police there was a man laying on top of a garage on Garden Street, and he was concerned for the man’s well-being. The man told police he was at his mother’s house, and he was allowed to be there.

5:58 p.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver on Bungay Road.

7:29 p.m. An employee at Stop & Shop reported a shoplifting incident.

11:00 p.m. Police charged an 18-year-old Seymour man with third-degree assault.

SEPT. 17, 2025 

1:27 p.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from a resident who was notified by her employer that someone tried to file for unemployment in her maiden name.

4:28 p.m. Police issued a verbal warning to a driver on Bungay Road.

5:30 p.m. A caller told police she was concerned about a man and a woman parked in a white SUV near Cogwheel Lane that appeared to be in distress. Police said the vehicle was gone upon their arrival.

6:09 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on West Street.

6:30 p.m. Police charged a 35-year-old Seymour woman with driving under the influence, operating a motor vehicle without minimum insurance, evading responsibility/property damage, making an improper turn and interfering with an officer/resisting arrest.

SEPT. 18, 2025

9:10 a.m. An employee of P & S Paving told police someone stole one of their trailers.

12:27 p.m. A Marie Drive resident told police someone stole her handicapped sign for her parking space.

1:37 p.m. A Chestnut Street resident told police a man in a silver Kia sits at the school bus drop off site every day and does not pick up any children. Police spoke with the man who was doing crossword puzzles in his car and said there were no issues.

3:40 p.m. Police were called to assist with a medical call on First Avenue about a child who injured his back after ​“landing awkwardly” on a trampoline. 

6:40 p.m. Police charged a 20-year-old Bridgeport man with second-degree failure to appear in court.

8:17 p.m. Police assisted with traffic control at Seymour High School following the Ansonia vs Seymour football game.

SEPT. 19, 2025

12:28 a.m. Police conducted radar enforcement on South Main Street. No violations were issued.

12:51 a.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver on North Street.

3:23 a.m. Police were called to Roosevelt Drive about a verbal dispute between a man and a woman.

8:35 a.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver on South Main Street.

12:33 p.m. An employee of Pub 67 told police there was an injured opossum in the back of the restaurant. Police contacted the animal control officer.

1:45 p.m. Police charged an 80-year-old Seymour man with sixth-degree larceny.

4:31 p.m. A Squantuck Road resident told police there was a full set of clothing with human feces in the middle of her driveway. An officer said there was no surveillance camera footage, and no ID found with the clothing, which was removed from the driveway.

9:15 p.m. Police were called to Shady Knoll on Skokorat Street about a patient threatening another patient. 

SEPT. 20, 2025

7:20 a.m. Police received a 911 call which was determined to be a misdial from an Apple watch.

8:57 a.m. Police were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on New Haven Road (Route 67).

4:52 p.m. Police were called about a physical altercation that occurred during a one-year-old’s birthday party at a residence on Pearl Street. Police said the parties were separated and left the residence.

11 p.m. A caller reported kids were singing and loud music was playing in the area of Nickelmine Drive and Jennifer Lane. An officer checked the area and said it was quiet.

SEPT. 21, 2025

8:36 a.m. Police issued a verbal warning to a driver on Bank Street.

12:31 p.m. A caller told police she observed a man leave a baby alone in his car for approximately two minutes while going inside a liquor store. The woman took the license plate number down and gave it to police. An officer said he spoke with the man who understood the ​“seriousness of the situation” and said he would not do it again. 

1:58 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Ray Street.

2:22 p.m. An anonymous caller reported ​“loud drumming” coming from a residence on Sanford Street.

9 p.m. Police charged a 45-year-old Seymour woman with second-degree breach of peace.

9:35 p.m. Police were sent to North Main Street for an alarm sounding in the area. Police said the buildings were secure.
