ANSONIA — First responders closed sections of Pershing Drive for a little under an hour, after an electrical fire outside a tanning salon Friday evening (Sept. 26).
Firefighters were alerted to an electric fire at Tommy’s Tanning (38 Pershing Drive) at around 7:00 p.m., according to Ansonia Deputy Fire Chief Anthony DeLucia. DeLucia said that an exterior light had caught fire, but extinguished itself on its own.
DeLucia said the fire did not spread into the building, and no one was injured. Neither Tommy’s Tanning nor surrounding businesses were seriously damaged, he said.
Pershing Drive was closed between Clifton Avenue and Division Street while crews investigated the fire. It was reopened around 7:50 p.m.
The building spanning 24 – 38 Pershing Drive also includes CVS and Charged Ansonia cafe.
