DERBY — A 31-year-old Bridgeport woman faces 13 criminal charges after she allegedly crashed into police cars while trying to elude capture.
According to a state court database, Aliyah Beeman faces:
* A felony count of assaulting a police officer
* Three felony counts of attempting to assault police
* A felony count of risk of injury to a child
* Four misdemeanor counts of first-degree reckless endangerment
* A misdemeanor count of resisting arrest
* Reckless driving
* Operating a vehicle under suspension
* Fleeing from police in a motor vehicle
According to an Oct. 10 Facebook post from Derby police, officers received a report that a man and his dog had been assaulted in the parking lot of 160 Elizabeth St. on Sept. 26. Details on the nature of the assault to the dog were not in the police statement. The address belongs to Checkers, a convenienceĀ store.
Beeman allegedly fled the scene in a stolen vehicle. Police tried to stop her but she took off and passed a vehicle on Elizabeth Street, a two lane road surrounded by residences and small businesses. Police allege she intentionally struck a police car, then sideswiped a parked car.
Police allege she wouldn’t get out of the vehicle once it stopped. The statement said “an unwilling adult passenger and juvenile passenger” were in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
“Additional assault and animal cruelty charges stemming from the initial complaint are expected,” according to the statement.
Beeman is being held on a $200,000 bond pending a court appearance Oct. 17.
