John J. Candella, age 53, unexpectedly entered eternal rest on October 12, 2025, at his home in Derby. He was the loving son of Richard R. Candella Sr. and Mary DeCarli Candella of Derby.
John was born in Derby on March 14, 1972, where he was raised and lived for most of his life. He was a graduate of Derby High School Class of 1990. John was employed as a licensed Union electrician as well as working for the family business Dwight Electric Inc. of Derby. He was an incredibly talented and a truly gifted musician and drummer. He loved entertaining others through music and playing in his band Morgan Skelly and the Old Crows. John also enjoyed attending concerts especially his favorites, Kiss and Alice Cooper. He was an avid fan of the New York Jets.
In addition to his parents, John leaves to cherish his memory, his brother, Richard R. Candella Jr. of Orange, brother-in-law, John Mongillo of Derby, uncles, Joseph Candella of Ansonia, Rocco Candella of the Philippines and James Candella of New Haven, aunt, Linda Candella of Florida, along with numerous friends and several cousins especially, John Chirgwin of Florida, Susan Masella of West Haven, Joseph Candella, and Eric Riordan of Derby. He was predeceased by his sister, Diane M. Candella, paternal grandparents, Joseph and Madeline DeLuca Candella, maternal grandparents, John and Mary Musante DeCarli and uncle and aunt, Ronald and Rosalie DeCarli Chirgwin.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 2:00-5:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Monday morning at 10:00 am, all are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial by meeting directly at Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Drive, in Ansonia.
