SHELTON – Police arrested a man they said sexually assaulted a woman inside a Shelton apartment.

Sean Senerchia, 23, was charged Oct. 31 with first-degree sexual assault, third-degree strangulation, disorderly conduct, and interfering with an officer, according to a press release from the Shelton Police Department.
According to police, officers were called to Long Hill Avenue after a 911 call hung up Oct. 31. Upon arrival, police encountered a female victim who ran out of her residence naked.
The woman told officers Senerchia was still inside her home, police said. Senerchia allegedly became confrontational with responding officers.
After Senerchia was taken into custody, detectives searched the apartment for evidence and spoke with neighbors about the incident, according to the press release. They learned Senerchia had been invited inside the woman’s apartment, but that he allegedly forced himself onto her, and brought her back inside after she had already tried to run out from the apartment once.
Senerchia’s bond was placed at $100,000, which was later raised to $250,000, according to the statement, and he remains in custody. His next court date is Nov. 20 at Superior Court in Derby.
