Marc Ernest Gilbert, age 63, of Shelton entered into rest on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Griffin Hospital in Derby. Marc was born in Bridgeport on October 19, 1962, cherished son of Sonia (Descheneaux) Gilbert and the late Marcel Gilbert, and lived most of his life in Shelton. He was an altar server at St. Margaret Mary as a boy and attended St. Lawrence Catholic School.
Marc was a skilled and experienced carpenter by trade. He specialized in stairs and cabinets, and his work was showcased in numerous magazines. An avid softball player, Marc played well into his 40’s. He was also a skilled billiards player and competed in many leagues. Marc had an ear for music and was a self-taught musician on the guitar and the organ.
He is the beloved brother of Todd Gilbert and Jodi Michelle Gilbert, and dear uncle to Ronald, Jaden, Todd Jr., Jaime, and Autumn, whom he cherished deeply. He was predeceased by a sister, Sonia-Dee Gilbert.
The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass directly at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton, on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 10:00 AM.
