Charles “Chuck” J. Meyer, Jr., age 85 of Seymour, formerly of Farmington and Orange,
died peacefully on November 20, 2025 at the Autumn Lake Healthcare at the Willows,
Woodbridge, with his family by his side. Born in Passaic, New Jersey on February 25,
1940, he was the son of the late Charles J. Meyer, Sr. and Catherine Marie Philhower
Meyer.

Mr. Meyer was raised in Norwalk and was a graduate of the New York Technical
School where he studied HVAC. Mr. Meyer was a proud veteran of the USMC
Reserves, where he served for 30 years and attained the rank of Master Gunnery
Sargeant. He was a member of the Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron-772 where he
was a crewman on a Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter. Following his
honorable discharge from the USMC Reserves, Mr. Meyer served with the U.S. Coast
Guard Auxiliary of Milford. He was employed as the Director of Operations for the
Chase Enterprises Co., of Hartford, managing commercial properties and hotels for over
30 years until the time of his retirement in 2005. For many years, Mr. Meyer worked as
an evening instructor for the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union, Local 777 of Meriden.

His lifelong passion was boating and fishing, always finding great solace on the water.
He was a member of the City Point Yacht Club of New Haven and the Branford Yacht
Club. As a young father, Mr. Meyer was a board member and active coach for Orange
Little League as well as coaching softball and youth hockey.

He is survived by his devoted children, Danielle Merritt and her husband, Russell of Seymour and Scott Meyer and his wife, Jennifer of Naugatuck; a sister, Judith Shuman of AZ; cherished grandchildren, Dawn Marie Basulevic of Seymour, Eric Parmelee and his wife Julieann of TN, and Katie & Emily Meyer of Naugatuck; great-grandchildren, Aliana and Ezra of Seymour; nephews, Douglas Shuman of AZ and Jeff Shuman of NY.

Family and friends may call on Monday, November 24, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:30 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Funeral services with Military Honors will be held at 6:30 PM. Interment will be private.
