Timothy Mingey, age 63, of Shelton, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. He was surrounded by family and closest friends, who spent his final moments recounting stories of the many good memories of their time with him. Born in Chicago, IL on October 30, 1962, he was the son of James Mingey and the late Antoinette Fabianski Mingey. Tim lived a life marked by devotion to family, curiosity of the world around him, and both physical and mental toughness. He was known for his unique sense of humor and compassion that extended to all living beings.

Tim proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, an experience that shaped his lifelong values of integrity, courage, and loyalty. He graduated from Fairfield University with a degree in software engineering and went on to build a long and dedicated career in Information Technology at People’s Bank. As his career advanced, Tim continued his education to earn a Master’s degree from Sacred Heart University.

He was the devoted husband of Elizabeth Sweeney Mingey and the beloved father of Erin Mingey, her partner Anthony Rodriguez, and Megan Mingey, and step-father to Kevin, James, and Katie Allen. Additionally, he was step-grandfather to Devitt, River, and Ava. He is also survived by his sister, Deirdre Mingey, her partner Makoto Shibata, and his step-mother Noreen Kensy Mingey. To those who knew Tim, he was a strong, dependable, and a loving friend and family member.

Tim dedicated much time and energy into practicing martial arts, including judo and karate. He took interest in the many fields of science, particularly astronomy and emerging technologies. Tim was a lively member of the Cheko Club. He loved spending time at the lake and his favorite vacation spots in Panama City Beach, Florida and the mountains of Vermont.

A celebration of Tim’s life will be held at a future date. Details to follow.
