MIDDLEBURY – For generations of Connecticut families, the arrival of spring has come with a familiar ritual: the reopening of Quassy Amusement Park & Waterpark.
That tradition continues April 25-26, as Quassy opens its 118th season along the shores of Lake Quassapaug, welcoming guests back for another year of rides, memories, and community connection.
Opening weekend is anchored by one of the park’s longest-running traditions, “Quassy Cares: Neighbors in Need.” Guests who bring a non-perishable food item or home cleaning product can purchase an all-day ride wristband for $18, with donations supporting local families and nonprofit organizations.
The weekend also brings back familiar favorites that have become part of the park’s spring opening tradition. Grandparents Ride Free returns April 25-26, offering a simple way for families to spend time together across generations, while the annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place Sunday, April 26.
Open to children 13 and under, the hunt invites young guests to search for eggs filled with candy and prizes in what has become a staple of opening weekend.
The celebration continues May 2-3 with a second “Quassy Cares: Neighbors in Need” weekend, along with Teacher Appreciation Weekend, Bring-A-Buddy days for season pass holders, and Dance Day on May 2 featuring local performers at the Carousel Theatre. Quassy will operate weekends from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. through May 17. The waterpark is scheduled to open on select dates beginning May 22 for Memorial Day weekend, with daily operations for both the amusement park and waterpark to follow for the summer season.
