Paul E. Swieringa, age 86, of Shelton, entered into rest on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at St. Raphael Hospital in New Haven. Paul was born in Holland, MI on March 31, 1940, son of the late Simon and Marian (Ivins) Swieringa, and lived in North Plainfield, NJ and Edison, NJ for most of his life before coming to Shelton in 2016.
Paul served his country with the United States Army. He was a devout Christian and always read his Bible. He was a very kind and caring person especially to his family.
He is survived by his sister, Rose Andrejczyk, his brother, Charles Swieringa (Maureen Maus), nephews Sean and Jason, Chip Swieringa, and Tom Andrejczyk, and nieces Tina Swieringa, Erin Coughenaur , and Alyssa Burry and her husband Stephen, and great nieces and nephews Brayden, Kaylee and Grayson. Paul was predeceased by a brother, Dale Swieringa, and a nephew, David Andrejczyk.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Friday, May 1, 2026 from 5 to 7 PM. On Saturday, May 2, 2026 friends are invited to join Paul’s family for his funeral service directly at Black Rock Church, 3685 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield at 11 AM. Burial will be in the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown.
