Misbehaving Boys
ANSONIA – Many complaints are being received of gangs of boys who congregate on the streets and vacant lots and make themselves a nuisance to neighboring residents. No objection is made to the youngsters playing ball in vacant lots, but to their behavior. Ball playing on the streets is also engaged in to the great danger of the players and drivers of motor vehicles.
Momento From Prison
DERBY – Lt. Anthony Urbano of the police department has received an interesting gift from Anniello Criscuolo, who is in the state prison at Wethersfield for having a part in a murder on Division Street two or three years ago. The momento was made by the convict in his spare time and is a centerpiece for a table. It is in a variety of colors and is a well-made piece of work.
Many Will Witness 1922 Graduation Tomorrow
SEYMOUR – Graduation exercises for the 1922 class of the Seymour High School will be held tomorrow night at 8 o’clock in Concordia Hall. An interesting evening is anticipated by all who are privileged to attend. The only regret is that more cannot be present, due to limited space, because they are not relatives or special friends of the graduates. It is hoped that someday there will be some public hall large enough to accommodate everyone who wishes to be on hand.
Game Is Off
SHELTON – Dennis J. Shea, manager of the Shelton Fire Department’s baseball team, which has achieved five consecutive victories so far this season, announced today that the scheduled game with the Derby Elks, which was to have been played on Community Field in Derby on Sunday afternoon, had been canceled. It was said that failure to agree on a proper division of the receipts had caused the decision to call off the contest which the fans were beginning to be interested in and were commencing to look forward to the contest with consideration enthusiasm.

Industrial Baseball
ANSONIA – The Ansonia Manufacturing Co. and the American Brass Co. battled last night on the new field to a 11-11 tie game. The Ansonia Mfg. Co.’s hard-hitting enabled them to stay on even terms with the American Brass Co.’s team. Tanner and Belko of the American Brass Co. each had a three bagger, which drove in six runs for the Brass workers.
Actor’s Colony To Be At Outing
DERBY – It is going to be a grand and glorious day next Tuesday. Ask any one of the many men who are to attend the get-together outing of the Ansonia Chamber of Commerce and the Derby Businessmen’s Association. The big affair is to be held at Double Beach Tuesday afternoon and there will be something stirring from the time the automobiles get there until the outing is over. Members of the Actor’s Colony on Lake Housatonic are to go on the outing and be the guests of the two organizations. They promise new novel and original stuff.

Ban On Fireworks
ANSONIA – The police are giving attention to storekeepers who are selling fireworks and a number of places have been visited and the proprietors warned not to sell fireworks under penalty of arrest. Several storekeepers have applied for permits but Mayor Mead has refused for several years to issue permits for the sale of fireworks and those who persist in offering them for sale, will likely land them in police court.
New Field Name Is Satisfactory
DERBY – There seems to be a general feeling of satisfaction with the new name for Community Field following the announcement in The Sentinel last evening that Buddies’ Memorial Field had been the unanimous choice of the general committee in charge of the field. It is regarded, so far as can be determined, in the short time which has elapsed since the name was announced, that it is appropriate and suggests that the field is a memorial for the 16 men from this city who died in the service during the World War.
Thirty-Five Seniors Get High School Diplomas
SEYMOUR – Concordia Hall was filled to overflowing at 8 o’clock last night when the 35th annual commencement of Seymour High School began. The exercises themselves were very impressive, and the program was well rounded throughout. It was a big night for the graduates, 35 in number. And although some received more honors than others, everyone could be proud of having finished the four-year course. Decorations were in blue and gold, the class colors, and the girls were showered with the class flowers, pink roses.

Boy Scout Camp Opens Next Week
DERBY – It is going to be a long wait for a number of boys of this city and Shelton this week. Vacation season has started and right on the heels of the closing of schools comes Fourth of July and right behind that is July 5. Just why July 5 should interest any youngster when July 4 should be of sufficient importance to focus all the attention is realized when it is learned that on the day after the Fourth, the Boy Scouts of the sister cities are to go to Camp Irving on Lake Housatonic and remain until July 15.
Teachers’ Lawn Festival
SEYMOUR – Tomorrow night on the church lawn, the teachers of the German Lutheran Church Sunday school will have a lawn festival to which the public is cordially invited. Brick ice cream, punch and cake will be served during the evening and is expected that a large gathering will enjoy the evening’s social events.

SHELTON –Two men are being held by the New York Police pending investigation into their alleged complicity in the plot which resulted in the theft of $10,000 worth of silks and plushes from the Shelton Looms in New York two weeks ago. The New York authorities, after a vigilant search, located all but five of the 27 cases of goods. The goods have been returned to the Shelton Looms.
