DERBY — The Storm Ambulance & Rescue Corps is proud to announce the return of the 3rd Annual Ambulance Driver 5K, taking place on Wednesday, July 15, in downtown Derby. What began as a unique community fundraiser has quickly grown into one of the Valley’s signature summer events, bringing together runners, walkers, families, local businesses, and first responders for an evening of fun while supporting emergency medical services in the City of Derby.

Held in partnership with BADSONS Beer Company and Dew Drop Inn, the Ambulance Driver 5K offers a certified 5K race, a free Kids Fun Run, food, refreshments, awards, and an opportunity for the community to interact with the dedicated men and women who serve them every day.

The popular Storm Engine Company #2 Kids Fun Run returns this year and is once again free for all children thanks to the generous sponsorship of Chick-fil-A.

Participants can also look forward to the return of many fan favorites from previous years, including the festive post-race celebration, unique finisher medals, awards, music, great food, and the opportunity to spend an enjoyable summer evening with friends, neighbors, and local first responders.

“I’m extremely proud of this event,” said David M. Lenart, Race Director. “The Ambulance Driver 5K has become the community event we always envisioned. It’s an evening where people can come together, have fun, and support a great cause. Every registration, sponsorship, and donation helps the Storm Ambulance & Rescue Corps continue its mission of providing exceptional emergency medical and rescue services to the residents and visitors of the City of Derby.”

Storm Ambulance Chief Tom Lenart added, “It’s a great event, and our members do an outstanding job making it a memorable evening for everyone. Come on down, enjoy a great night, and take the opportunity to meet your local first responders. We truly appreciate the incredible support this community continues to show us.”

While hundreds of runners and walkers are expected to participate, organizers remind residents that you don’t have to run to support the cause. Those who are unable to participate are encouraged to make a tax-deductible donation, become a sponsor, or simply come out and cheer on the participants while enjoying the festivities.

Every dollar raised helps the Storm Ambulance & Rescue Corps continue investing in training, equipment, emergency response capabilities, and the services that residents depend on 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Registration remains open, and participants of all ages and abilities are encouraged to sign up. Whether you’re racing for a personal best, walking with family and friends, or simply supporting your hometown ambulance corps, the Ambulance Driver 5K is an event everyone can enjoy.
