Anne (Macek) Golebieski, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at the Lutheran Home in Southbury.  She was the wife of the late Edward H. Golebieski.  She was also predeceased by a son Edward H. Golebieski, Jr..  Anne was born in Orange, CT on January 4, 1933, daughter of the late John and Frances (Surovcak) Macek of Orange.  She graduated from St. Mary’s High School, New Haven.

Anne leaves her daughters, Michelle Sadlosky (Thomas), and Diane Wabno (Joseph) of Seymour, and Jean Hovan (William) of Oxford; sons, David Golebieski of Newtown, and Jeffrey (Rebecca) Golebieski of Seymour; grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher and Jessica Hovan, Courtney, Brett and Michael Wabno, and Lauren Golebieski; great grandchildren, Cooper and Mackenzie, as well as her brothers Stanley Macek of Seymour, and Anthony Macek (Debbie) of Derby and many nieces and nephews from both sides of the family. Anne is predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Golebieski; sister, Jenny Michko and her husband Joseph; brother, Joseph Macek and his wife Mary; sister, Helen Macek; brother, John Macek and his wife Patricia, and sister-in-law Darlene Macek. 

Anne was Welfare Director for the Town of Seymour for five years then worked at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of CT retiring in 1988.  She went back to the Town of Seymour working part time as the Insurance clerk, retiring in 2013.  Upon retirement Anne worked as a volunteer at Griffin Hospital and Team’s Toys for Kids at Christmas.  She was a member and past president of David S. Miles Unit #174 American Legion Auxiliary of Oxford.  Anne served on the Seymour Library Board of Directors from 1993-1994 and 2003-2007.  Anne was a communicant of Church of the Good Shepherd, Seymour.  She was past president of the former Ladies Guild, a lector and CCD teacher for five years.

Anne loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s baseball, basketball, football, softball, swimming meets and volleyball games.  She loved going to New York City to see Broadway shows, especially the Christmas show.  She also loved gardening, crocheting, reading and playing bingo.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 from 4pm until 7pm in the Ralph Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour, CT 06483.  Mass of Christian Burial will start at  9am on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from the funeral home and at 10am in the Church of the Good Shepherd (St. Nicholas Parish), 135 Mountain Road, Seymour.  Interment will immediately follow in St. Augustine’s Cemetery in Seymour.  Memorial contributions in Anne’s memory may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd through the funeral home.
