It is with deep love and sadness that we announce that Lois Kilpatrick Shelton, of Ansonia, CT, peacefully entered into eternal rest on July 18, 2026, at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband, William R. Shelton, Jr., with whom she shared many happy years before his passing 23 years ago.
Born in Derby, CT, on July 8, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Katie (Midgette) Kilpatrick.
Lois graduated from Ansonia High School in 1952 and went on to receive an Associate’s Degree from Colby-Sawyer College in 1954. She worked as a medical secretary for several private practices and was a member of The Christ Episcopal Church in Ansonia.
She leaves behind her son, William R. Shelton, III of Norman, OK; daughters and sons-in-law Kay and Joseph Jeanette, Jr. of Ansonia, CT & Carey and Andrew Irish of Cheshire, CT. She was the cherished grandmother to Alyssa (Nicholas) Donofrio, Christopher (Kelsey) Jeanette, Kelley (David) Santiago & Daniel Irish and the beloved Gigi to her great-grandchildren Brooklyn and Nicholas Donofrio, Luke Jeanette & Micah and Myles Santiago. She was predeceased by her brother, Arthur L. Kilpatrick.
Her family was her greatest accomplishment and she treasured the times spent together celebrating all of life’s special moments. Beyond her family, she found joy in gardening, music and cheering on the Ansonia Chargers, the UConn Huskies and the Boston Red Sox.
Her family would like to thank the compassionate and caring staff at Complete Care Glendale in Naugatuck, CT for their care and support for Lois and her family over the last several months.
Friends and family may call on Monday, July 27th at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Funeral service will then begin at 6:00 p.m.
Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family.
