SEYMOUR: Leonard J. “Emo” Krohelski, age 87, unexpectedly entered eternal rest on August 29, 2026, at Backus Hospital in Norwich. He was the beloved husband of the late Cecilia J. “Pudgie” (Sroka) Krohelski.
Leonard was born in Shamokin, PA on February 26, 1939, son of the late Albert and Mildred (Stutz) Krohelski. A lifelong resident of Seymour, he was a graduate of Seymour High School in 1956. Following high school, he enlisted and proudly served in the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge in 1960.
He later attended and graduated from the CT School of Electronics. He was hired by Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford where he dedicated six decades to a remarkable career, retiring as a Technical Support Manager this July. Active in the Seymour community, Len served on the board of the Seymour High School Sports Hall of Fame and was a former coach for Seymour Pop Warner Football and Seymour Biddy Basketball.
A longtime communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Seymour, he served as a longtime usher at the vigil Mass. Len had a deep love for natures quiet moments, whether waiting for a bite fishing or bringing a piece of timber to life. He was a loyal fan of the New York Yankees, Tennessee Volunteers and UConn Women’s Basketball. Each week, he enjoyed visiting friends and sharing a meal at the Route 67 Diner in Seymour and Friday evenings at Roseland Apizza in Derby with his family.
Len liked to try his luck with frequent trips to Mohegan Sun Casino. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Leonard Krohelski and his wife Lisa of Seymour, a daughter, Deborah Cavalier and her husband Gregg of Trumbull, four grandchildren, Liana Juchniewicz (Kevin) of Oxford, Louis Krohelski (Cree) of Derby, Lydia Krohelski (Bobby Burns) of Seymour and Matthew Cavalier (fiancé Ariana Prashad) of Trumbull, four great-grandchildren, Cecilia and Owen Juchniewicz and Kace and Calla Krohelski, a sister, Mary Ann Berube of FL, as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his wife Cecelia, he was predeceased by a sister, Yvonne Wiladyka.
Relatives and friends may visit the family and pay their respects on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Thursday, his funeral will begin at 9:15 am from the funeral home and then proceed to the Church of the Good Shepherd, (Saint Nicholas Parish) 135 Mountain Road in Seymour, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 am. Interment with United States Air Force military honors will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery in Derby.
