SHELTON — The fire marshal said there were no injuries reported after a house fire on Daybreak Lane Sunday (Sept. 13).
Four Shelton Fire Department companies — Pine Rock Park Co. #4, Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 — responded to the fire at 7 Daybreak Lane at around 9:20 a.m., according to a press release.
Upon arrival, responding crews found the home engulfed in flame and searched the house. Firefighters did not find anyone inside, but later learned that the home’s occupants had safely escaped before firefighters arrived.
Firefighters had the fire under control within 30 minutes, officials said.
An investigation by the fire marshal’s office found the fire started in a bedroom after a jar candle ignited nearby objects. The investigation noted there were no working smoke detectors in the home.
Stratford and Derby fire departments responded and stood-by while the fire was ongoing. Echo Ambulance also stood-by during the fire.
The house at 7 Daybreak Lane is a single-family, wood-frame ranch-style house, according to city land records. It was built in 1968.
