Jamie Morales Barrett, age 35, of Derby, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Griffin Hospital following a sudden illness.

Born in Derby on September 27, 1990, Jamie was the beloved son of Janet Tyson Barrett of Derby and the late Orville Barrett. He was raised in Derby and was a proud 2009 graduate of Derby High School. Jamie went on to build a career as an Information Technology Specialist at Yale University.

Jamie had a personality that was impossible to forget. He had an incredible sense of humor, a quick wit, and was truly a jokester. He loved making people laugh and had a playful way of bringing joy to those around him. His infectious humor, genuine heart, and ability to make even the simplest moments memorable endeared him to so many.

Jamie was also a true car enthusiast. He had a special love for his red VW Jetta GLI and took great pride in his cars. He enjoyed everything about the automotive world and could often be found talking about, working on, or simply admiring cars. It was something that brought him genuine happiness and was a big part of who he was.

Above all, Jamie loved his family and friends. He treasured the time he spent with the people closest to him and had a way of making those around him feel like they were part of his world. His family will forever remember his laughter, his jokes, his personality, and all of the little moments that made Jamie who he was.

In addition to his mother, Jamie is survived by his loving siblings, Janice Barrett of Cheshire and Jehmar Barrett of New Jersey; his maternal grandfather, Vivian Tyson of Canada; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will cherish his memory.

Jamie was predeceased by his father, Orville Barrett; his maternal grandmother, Lucille Bepot Tyson; his step-grandmother, Ruby Banise Tyson; and his paternal grandparents, Vera May Gordon Barrett and James Dalton Barrett.

Though his life was far too short, Jamie left an unforgettable mark on the people who loved him. His laughter will be missed, his jokes will be remembered, and his presence will forever be felt by the family and friends who were blessed to know him.

Rest peacefully, Jamie. You will always be forever loved and never forgotten.
