DERBY – An animal advocacy group is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to a prosecution after a dog was abandoned in Osbornedale State Park on Chatfield Street.
Desmond’s Army, the group offering the reward, said in a social media post that Ozzy, a small white senior dog, was found dumped in the park Oct. 27.
Ozzy was found curled up by a passerby, according to the post, with his nails curled so badly he could barely walk.
After being found, Ozzy was brought to VCA Shoreline for care. A representative from VCA Shoreline confirmed they treated Ozzy but declined to talk about specific aspects of the treatment.
The Valley Indy has left a message for Shelton Animal Control seeking further information.
Desmond’s Army is an animal advocacy group which advocates for animal welfare legislation. Members of the group also often attend and observe court hearings for cases where animal cruelty is suspected.
