SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from Sept. 22, 2025 through Sept. 28, 2025.

Seymour police received 240 calls for service and made eight arrests between Sept. 22, 2025 and Sept. 28, 2025.

SEPT. 22, 2025

9:45 a.m. Police assisted a tractor trailer that was blocking part of the road at the intersection of Main and Broad streets.

1:05 p.m. A caller told police three goats were wandering in and out of the road near Mountain Meadow Cemetery on Mountain Road. An officer said the goats were returned home and belonged to someone that lives next to the cemetery.

5:59 p.m. Police received multiple calls about “strange noises” coming from the Aquarion Building on Balance Rock Road. An officer checked the building and didn’t hear anything unusual and said it could have been the generator turning on.

6:30 p.m. An anonymous caller told police she suspected animal abuse occurring at a residence on Seymour Avenue, telling police there are seven cats and rats which she believed were being neglected. The caller told police there was urine and feces all over the basement floor where the animals are kept. An officer checked the residence and said there were no signs of neglect and that the animals looked well fed. The officer said while the house was cluttered, there was no sign of feces or urine. The caller told police she hadn’t visited the house for over a month.

SEPT. 23, 2025

1:08 a.m. Police were sent to a residence on Grand Avenue for a medical emergency.

7:24 a.m. Police received a 911 hang-up call from Seymour Middle School, but the call was deemed accidental.

1:10 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in the Auto Zone parking lot on First Street.

3:57 p.m. Police set up radar enforcement on Great Hill Road.

4:03 p.m. Police charged a 49-year-old Woodbridge woman with violation of probation and second-degree failure to appear.

4:46 p.m. An Old Ansonia Road resident told police about an ongoing issue with people walking through his property to gain access to the nearby quarry.

6:54 p.m. A Brookfield Road resident reported a case of unemployment fraud.

SEPT. 24, 2025  

6:55 a.m. A caller told police a man wearing a red sports jersey was going door to door on Pearl and Pond streets, saying his car broke down. The man was able to push his car onto Pond Street for a tow.

10:23 a.m. A Skokorat Street resident requested assistance about a skunk that was in her backyard that was barely breathing.

12:41 p.m. Police were sent to Maple Street for a report of an aggressive cat in the area.

3 p.m. Police charged a 36-year-old Stratford man with second-degree breach of peace, second-degree harassment and violation of a protective order.

 7:45 p.m. Police were sent to New Haven Road (Route 67) for a report of a disabled vehicle.

SEPT. 25, 2025

12:16 a.m. Police issued a written warning to a driver at the intersection of Rimmon and Clinton roads.

12:37 a.m. Police were sent to a residence on Roosevelt Drive for a medical emergency.

9:05 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident at Maple Street and Rimmon Road.

4:05 p.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver on South Main Street.

6:10 p.m. A caller told police a man was “harassing” people for money near the train station downtown. An officer said the man asked someone for a quarter and there were no further issues.

SEPT. 26, 2025

9:18 a.m. Police set up radar enforcement on Davis Road.

11:05 a.m. An employee from a business on Progress Avenue told police someone tried to cash a check in the amount of $2,800 four times in the company’s name.

4:46 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Bank Street. No injuries were reported.

3:47 p.m. A Red Oak Lane resident reported two packages had been stolen from his residence.

9:57 p.m. A caller reported there was yelling, tires screeching and engines revving near the McDonald’s parking lot on Bank Street. Police said they could not locate any vehicles upon their arrival.

11:49 p.m. Police conduced traffic light enforcement on New Haven Road (Route 67) and observed no violations.

SEPT. 27, 2025

1 a.m. Police charged a 44-year-old Seymour man with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs.

3:31 a.m. A 911 caller told police someone in an oncoming vehicle threw something at her vehicle while she was driving on South Main Street.

8:47 a.m. Police assisted All-Star Transportation with a disabled bus near Bungay Road and Carriage Drive.

9:39 a.m. Police set up radar enforcement on Maple Street.

10:13 a.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver on Bank Street.

12:52 p.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver on West Street.

1:45 p.m. An Emma Street resident told police an Amazon driver struck her parked car.

6:30 p.m. Police charged a 20-year-old Bridgeport man with disorderly conduct.

9:35 p.m. A Charles Road resident told police someone was playing loud music in the area. An officer told a resident on Edward Road to turn the music down.

SEPT. 28, 2025

1:23 a.m. A Pershing Avenue resident told police someone was playing loud music in the area and woke him up.

11:04 a.m. A Garden Street resident told police his dog was attacked by another dog that lives across the street from him.

12:36 p.m. A caller told police someone was setting off fireworks under Route 8. An officer located the man on River Street, who had a small pack of fireworks, and advised him he was not allowed to set off fireworks in a public area.

6:01 p.m. Police issued a misdemeanor to a driver on Squantuck Road.
