John T. Neville, known to family and friends as Jack, age 73, passed away on December 31, 2025, at Yale New Haven Hospital after a long courageous battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) & pulmonary hypertension. 

Jack was born on June 2, 1952, to Marjorie and Thomas Neville in St. Raphael’s Hospital. He grew up & attended school in Derby, CT alongside his siblings, Dorothy and Tim. Jack was the youngest of the trio. The Valley remained home throughout his entire life.

Jack dedicated 38 years working his way up to power plant engineer with Yale Utilities Union 35 where he was known for his strong work ethic, knowledge and reliability. He also proudly volunteered for 28 years with the East End Firehouse in Derby, giving selflessly to his community.

Outside of work, Jack was a devoted Harley-Davidson enthusiast. Riding was one of his greatest joys and reflected his love of freedom and the open road. He was a member of Ansonia Rod & Gun Club. 

He is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth (Grube) Neville; his stepchildren, Dorothy Jessip, Patricia & husband Brett Harris and Richard Jessip; step-grandchildren, Gavin and Emma Harris; brother Tim & wife Judy; along with several nieces & nephews.

Internment will be in Mt. St Peters Cemetery on June 2nd 2026 at Noon for family and friends that may wish to attend. If so desired donations may be made in Jack’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
