ANSONIA-DERBY-SEYMOUR — Please consider supporting The Valley Indy by visiting Donate.ValleyIndy.org right now.
The link takes you to the Valley Indy’s Great Give donation page. While The Great Give does not officially start until 8 a.m. May 6, advance donations are now being accepted.
The Valley Indy, a nonprofit online newspaper launched in 2009, is trying to raise $10,000 by 8 p.m. May 7.
Here is what we’ve done to earn your donation:
- We were the only media outlet in Connecticut to cover Derby’s last three budget cycles. That includes this year, when a revaluation caused the average property assessment in the city to increase by 60 percent.
- We were the only media outlet to report the results of the 2025 budget referendum in Ansonia.
- We were the only media outlet in Connecticut to do a live video interview with Derby Fire Department leaders and the city’s finance director about why Derby residents were being asked to approve $6.5 million in borrowing.
- We are the only media outlet in Connecticut that dedicates a section of its website to news from the Ansonia Senior Center.
- We are the only media outlet in Connecticut paying attention to the Tri-Town Plaza lawsuit in Seymour.
- We share live streams of government meetings to Facebook and YouTube.
- We go to structure fires.
- We publish police blotters.
- We publish a Valley history column.
- We publish honor rolls.
- We publish hundreds of community announcements, ranging from nonprofit fundraisers to Comcast channel 10’s weekly programming schedule.
- We put obituaries on our front page — for free, like everything on ValleyIndy.org.
And once a year, during The Great Give, we ask you to support the organization.
Thank you for your support!
