Rose Marie Gabriel, age 87, entered eternal rest on July 30, 2026, at Shady Knoll Health Center in Seymour.
Born in Derby on May 15, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Vincent Gabriel Sr. and Rose (D’Antuono) Gabriel. Rose Marie grew up in Ansonia and graduated from Ansonia High School class of 1957. She later moved to Derby where she resided for most of her life. Rose Marie was employed at the former National School Studios/Lifetouch in Derby, then transitioned to work in the mail room and as a telephone operator for the former Emhart, now Black and Decker, in Shelton. She later took a job in the Deli Department at Stop and Shop in Derby. For Rose Marie, there was nothing more important than family. She treasured spending time with her precious granddaughters who were the light of her life. She also enjoyed weekly shopping trips with her sisters. Rose Marie loved daily trips to Dunkin Donuts and Saturday night dinners to catch up with friends. She was a devout communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia where she sung in the choir, was a member of its Rosary Guild and volunteered her time at the annual Italian Festa making meatballs and selling raffle tickets. She will be lovingly missed.
Rose Marie leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Renee Perssico, adored son-in-law, Terry Perssico Jr. of Beacon Falls, brother, Vinny Gabriel (Sue) of Clearwater, FL, sisters, Celeste Aconfora of North Branford and Bernice Barber (Richie) of The Villages, FL, granddaughters, Lindsey and Nikki Perssico, nieces, Debbie McEvoy (Ed), Doreen Castaldi (Bruno), Melissa Barcliff, Kelly Rosbrough (Joe) and Sara Gabriel along with several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Salvatore Aconfora.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia`. On Tuesday morning, her funeral will begin at 9:15 am from the funeral home then proceed to Holy Rosary Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 am.
